Defense of The Home
Many firearms owners have purchased handguns to defend their homes against robbery,
home invasions and general mayhem. They may be unaware of the risks involved - to themselves and other family
members - if a well-considered plan is not in place. The consultation starts with prevention and escape/evasion
techniques, then proceeds to the tactics and strategies you can use to prevent harm from coming to you or a loved one when
escape is no longer an option. In Defense of the Home,
students learn: - Home Exterior and Interior security review and recommendations.
Includes a schematic of YOUR home identifying strengths and weakness, and suggestions for improvements.
- The difference, and importance of Cover versus Concealment - using common home design elements to increase your chances of safety.
- How to identify and establish a Safe Room in your residence
or apartment
- What to do when other family members are also present during an
incident
- The best choices for ammunition for self-defense
- Safe, yet accessible firearms or other self-defense tool storage

Private Lessons: Intermed. & Advanced Pistol Intermediate
and advanced pistol training for individuals that wish to develop and enhance the basic, fundamental shooting skills they
already possess. The focus is not so much on traditional Olympic-style marksmanship, but
in developing the skills for the defensive use of a handgun. Firearm safety is paramount. We believe that
every, single shot needs to be on target. The "pray and spray" handgun use seen on TV and in movies
- shooting rapidly and hoping a few shots hit the target - is not only dangerous, it is ineffective.
We teach
how to quickly acquire your target and place shots where you intend them to go. Every single time. We evaluate your current shooting skill-set and present you with progressively advanced,
hands-on practice routines. You have the option of taking your training as far as you believe is necessary for your
particular circumstances and lifestyle.
Instruction can include: - Consistent shot placement
- Rapid
target acquisition skills
- Rapid fire skills
- Personal defense against multiple assailants
- Offhand/weak
hand shooting skills
Price - $60 per hour, two hour minimum unless previous
arrangements have been made. Students are responsible for all firearms, ammunition, range fees plus eye and ear protection.
These are generally available for purchase or rental at the gun range.
Prerequisites:
18 years of age or older unless pre-approved by our Chief Instructor. Mandatory
pre-class telephone interview with our Chief Instructor. No online registration
is available for this service. Please call 877-208-3783.

Practical Defensive Pistol Updated content and new pricing!
This 3-hour introduction to Advanced
techniques class (see prerequisites below) is limited to 4 students per session.
In it, participants will learn 8 practical shooting skills and tactics for self-defense with a pistol. The class culminates
with two scenarios where these skills are combined and utilized in mock defensive situations.
Each skill and scenario
is first explained and demonstrated by the Chief Instructor. Every student then performs a "dry fire" test
of the skill/scenario, followed by two or three live-fire demonstrations by each student.
Our philosophy is that
you must make EVERY shot count - no "pray and spray" shooting as we all see on TV and in the movies. Our intent
is to move you out of your "comfort zone" - shooting at static targets at fixed
distances - and introduce you to the skills needed for dynamic, defensive situations.
These skills include:
- Proper and effective unholstering of your gun
- Weak-side shooting
- One-handed shooting
- Accurate
rapid fire shooting
- Multiple Targets
- Shooting around barriers
Plus much, much more.
The
class begins with a 30-minute safety orientation, with the remainder of the class being dedicated to learning and practicing
new techniques and tactics. At the conclusion of the class, students are given a copy of our, "Keeping Your Skills Sharp" training pamphlet.
What this class IS NOT:
We will not make any recommendations regarding WHEN to use a firearm for self-defense.
The laws in California are simply too vaguely written. We will provide each student with a copy of the California DOJ
Firearms Law Summary section titled, "The Use Of Firearms In Defense Of Life And Property". Students are strongly
encouraged to read and understand this information, and to consult their own attorney if they have any questions.
The class is taught by an NRA Nationally Certified Pistol Instructor
and member of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), but this is NOT an NRA class.
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Handgun (no larger than .45 ACP for semi-autos or
.357 Magnum for revolvers)
- Holster (strong-side belt-loop, paddle
style or Inside/Outside The Waistband ONLY - no weak-side, shoulder or small of the back holsters allowed). STRONGLY
recommended to have a rigid holster made of Kydex or polycarbonate that can be re-holstered with one hand. CALL US for inexpensive recommendations. We also have
a limited number of rental packages available. We are fairly flexible with this, as the focus of the class is
not holster techniques, but shooting techniques.
- 2 magazines for semi-autos (3 recommended) OR 2 revolver
speed loaders (3 recommended)
- 150 rounds of ammunition (may be
purchased at the range)
- Eye and ear protection (may be rented at the range)
- Long pants with
belt, and shirt with no/minimal neck opening
- Comfortable flat-heeled shoes (such as tennis shoes)
- Recommended: Magazine Speed loader, light jacket, gun cleaning kit, baseball cap
